Pakmen Volleyball, the only accredited volleyball club in the GTA, will be offering a variety of volleyball programs for kids this winter including Ball Kids, Spikes Volleyball, and the Development League.
It’s never to early to play sports! Pakmen’s Ballkids program is a multi-sport program for boys and girls between the ages of 4 to 6. Children will be introduced to the fundamental concepts and skills behind popular ball sports including basketball, soccer, and of course, volleyball!
This program is designed to first and foremost get children engaged in sports. By giving children the opportunity to learn and have fun through sports, they develop lifelong habits of being active. The Ballkids program focuses on the development of gross motor skills, along with balance, strength, co-ordination, stamina, and timing.
With Ballkids, children will be introduced to new sports and will get started on the path of a healthy lifestyle! And most importantly, they’ll have a blast!
Spikes is a one hour learn to play volleyball program for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13 years. Spikes is focused on providing a supportive, non-competitive environment, where learning volleyball skills is a whole lot of fun! This program is the best choice for young athletes looking to try a new sport, no previous experience is required.
Spikes sessions are high energy with lots of activity and moving around! Participants will learn the basics of volleyball and develop the right habits to excel in the sport. Every participant will receive a Spikes t-shirt.
The Development League is a 10 week program that teaches the fundamentals of volleyball through a mix of instruction, drills, and competition. The Development League caters to participants from grades 5 to 8. It is recommended that participants have an intermediate skill set and a basic understanding of the sport of volleyball. Each participant will be placed on a team, and will stay together for the duration of the program. We will make every effort to place friends on the same team!
Sessions will begin with a warm up then will transition to drills. Players will learn and practice serving, passing, and hitting, and will learn how to play defense within a team system. By the end of the program players will be more skilled individually and will be better team players.
Each weekly session is 1.5 hours in length and includes 30 minutes of instruction and drills, with 60 minutes of game play. Participants will receive an official Pakmen Jersey T-shirt. The 10 week program will end with playoffs and a championship series on the last day.
