Canada Day Activities 2016 in Mississauga
This year, our great nation will celebrate its 149th birthday on Friday, July 1st and there will be loads of FUN and ENTERTAINMENT for friends and family to enjoy in the city! As always, there are great activities to participate in on this fabulous summer statutory holiday. At Mississauga Kids, it is important to us that you have information in advance to plan your day and maximize your FUN! Here are some awesome events to consider, updated for 2016.
Mississauga Celebration Square – 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm – FREE Admission

Celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday with your favourite artists and 100,000 new friends at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Headlined by multi-award nominated rock group The Strumbellas and Juno and MMVA nominated folk pop songstress Ria Mae, there’s good reason to celebrate this Canada Day.
Hosted by ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey and Global News’ Alan Carter, the Canada Day event at Mississauga Celebration Square is going to be explosive. Mississauga’s DJ Mensa will keep the crowd pumped all night long with main stage performances by:
- The Strumbellas performing songs from their new album Hope including hit single Spirits
- Ria Mae with music from her self-titled record, including hit singles Clothes Off and Gold
- Pop sensation and you-tube star Dan Talevski
- Rising star and local rapper John River
- Mississauga’s Dead Penny
Capped off with an explosive fireworks finale presented by Tim Hortons, Canada’s 149th birthday is one event you don’t want to miss.
Prior to these events, Camp Canuck will be occurring at the square from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. During that time, there will be plenty of activities for the whole family including face-painting, crafts, musical performances, and more!
Village of Streetsville – TBA – FREE Admission
The Streetsville BIA is hosting its annual Streetsville Canada Day Celebrations on Friday, July 1st, 2016. There will be lots of crafts, games and activities for the kids, Rotary BBQ, live entertainment, contests, and lots more!
Join the BIA for the official Canada Day Opening Ceremonies & Cake Cutting at 7:00pm. They will have lots of entertainment on stage, concluding with the Streetsville Legion Colour Guard raising the Canadian flag at the Streetsville Cenotaph. The Streetsville Pipes and Drums will then lead everyone down to Streetsville Memorial Park for a performance by the Christian James Band and then the fantastic music and fireworks show at 10:00pm.

When: Friday, July 1st, 2016– Festivities begin – 6pm,
Cake Cutting – 7pm, Fireworks – 10pm (Streetsville Memorial Park)
Paint the Town Red in Port Credit – 11:00 am to 10:00pm – FREE Admission
This amazing event has many activities to participate in!
The Hazel McCallion Canada Day Pararde starts at 11:00 am on Lakeshore Rd. from Stavebank Rd. to Seneca Ave. Grand Marshals, Her Worship Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey, and MP Sven Spengemann are all scheduled to be in attendance.
There will be cake cutting directly after the parade at Le Villa Bakery and there will also be live entertainment.
At Memorial Park, the Dunsire Kids Zone will have free activities starting at 1:00pm. There will be children shows, face painting, Lego building, bracelet making, kids karaoke, and inflatables. Kids will also have the opportunity to decorate cupcakes and complete crafts!
Main Stage Entertainment is free at Memorial Park from Noon to 10:00pm. As always, there will be a multitude of great entertainers like Mississauga’s Pop Orchestra, Sound and Fury, Tom Barlow, and more! Don’t miss the incredible fireworks show, which will be occurring right after the musical performances at 10:00pm in the park!
