Lace em’ up and get ready for the 2014 Mississauga Marathon! The Race Weekend will be taking place from Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 4th. All Mississauga Kids are encouraged to sign up for the SUBWAY® Restaurants 2K Fun Run/Walk on the Sunday or the 10K Student Relay on Saturday evening.
The beautiful route features the Lake Ontario Waterfront and post race snacks will be waiting for you when you cross the finish line. An event t- shirt, finishers’ medal and a chance for prizes are some of many benefits to participating in this once a year event!
You won’t want to miss out on the activities at the SUBWAY® Restaurants 2K Fun Run/Walk start line including the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games hosting a variety of activities such as Wheelchair Basketball, “Sauga” and much more. The Mississauga Steelheads OHL mascot will also be at the start line. This run/walk starts at Hiawatha Park in Mississauga at 12:30 PM but be sure to arrive early to partake in all of these start line activities.
Shuttle buses to the start begin at 10:30 AM and will depart from Carmen Corbasson Community Centre. Mississauga Kids also have the option to sign up with their school and participate in the Enersource MaraFun Program for the chance to become “The School That Goes The Distance”. The school with the most amount of Enersource MaraFun Program participants wins the title and our MaraFun Cup to be displayed at their school! Throughout this program students train for six weeks before the Mississauga Marathon completing 40K of physical activity, and finishing off the final 2K on race day giving them a chance to experience what it would be like to complete a Full Marathon. Each participant will receive an event t-shirt, race bag, finishers’ medal and finishers’ certificate. Register before prices increase on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014. Find three siblings, friends, teammates or classmates and sign up for the 10K Student Relay where you will work as a team to complete the 10K distance of the Mississauga Marathon, roughly 2.5KM for each team member. Start time on Saturday for this race is 6:30 PM and located at Lakeshore Road and Johnson’s Lane (just east of Clarkson Road) in Mississauga.
