Mississauga Marathon

Web Banner 300x250The Mississauga Marathon invites participants of all ages and abilities to take part in the 2017 Mississauga Marathon Race Weekend, which takes place from Friday, May 5th to Sunday, May 7th. With “A Run For Everyone,” kids of all ages can participate in the MaraFun Program, in addition to all our distance races, which finishes as part of the 2KM Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, May 7th, 2017! It is a great way to get involved in a major community sporting event and learn about what it takes to live a healthy active lifestyle. Most importantly, it is FUN!

The MaraFun Program provides kids the experience of running the Full Marathon over a six-week period leading up to the event. The program officially starts on Monday, March 27th but late entries are always welcome. Kids will complete a few kilometres of physical activity each day, adding them up towards their goal of 40 KM before Race Weekend. On race day, they will participate in the 2KM Fun Run/Walk, completing their 42KM: a Full Marathon!

Participants get to cross the same Finish Line as participants who are completing the Full Marathon, and get to experience the excitement of Race Weekend, while introducing physical activity into their daily schedule. Prior to the final 2 kilometres on Race Weekend, participants can run, walk, bicycle, play soccer or any other kind of physical activity, just so long as it adds up to 40 KM.

Schools are invited to take part in the MaraFun Program, with the school that involves the most participants winning the coveted MaraFun Cup, for being “The School That Goes the Distance!”

Each participant will receive an exclusive event t-shirt, a Swag Bag filled with goodies, a Finisher’s Medal when they cross the Finish Line in the 2KM Fun Run/Walk, and a Certificate of Completion of the MaraFun Program.

Interested schools and clubs can visit www.mississaugamarathon.com for more information or contact email info@mississaugamarathon.com. School presentations are available to inform students and faculty about the benefits of being a participant in this World Class event.
